Perspective.....

You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view . . . until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.  In my opinion this quote makes this book. I catch myself judging people i see walking around everyday, maybe because of how they are dressed or even how they act. I am judged all the time because of how i dress how a act and who i am with. Two of the main cases i see of judging in this book are with Boo Radley and Tom Robinson. Boo Radley is judged by the younger kids as scary and hidden, but they do not know Boo, they only know him by what they hear and what they imagine. Tom Robinson was accused of raping a white girl. people judged Tom because he was black, They did not get to know him they just thought he was bad because of the color of his skin. This book shows a lot of the wrong i see in many people and even myself.

Atticus Finch to me is an amazing father. The lessons he teaches his kids are lessons most children to not learn until they make a mistake. The fact that he is not racist is a strong add to the quote You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view . . . until you climb into his skin and walk around in it. Even though he knew he would be judged for defending a black man he did it anyway, because it was right, and that is what matters.

Its all perspective.

  1. I have to agree with you on the judging, part along with the quote. That quote is powerful. It not only gives an inside into what the book is about, but it shows the real life situations that surround it. I really enjoyed reading your point of view of the first part, because it is similar to my beliefs of it as well.

  2. Jason,
I agree with you and Chelsea... The novel is all about judging a person.. The quote sort of leads you as to what is to come. It gives you and idea that the characters throughout the novel, base their judgments on the things they hear or the things they see. It's never by how the person is as a person. I loved your examples you used to support your statement about the novel.
